The Gorafe desert, in Granada (Spain), becomes the first location of a state-of-the-art tourist project that promises to revolutionize the current concept of luxury accommodation. Ideal for travelers who want to disconnect from the outside world, this capsule hotel (podtel) is called District Hive and is the first of several (Podtel Colony) to be placed in different parts of the world.

Created by the Spanish studio MOHO Arquitectos, this module doesn’t leave any environmental impact on the area since no local resources are consumed. Once removed, the location would stay in the same state in which it was previously found.

Once transported to the site, the eco-hotel can be used within few hours. It stands on 6 legs, has no foundations, and does not require any type of channeling, piping, or sanitation.
Featuring 35m2 of space, the podtel includes a bathroom, a kitchen-living-dining room, a bedroom (one double bed and two hidden single beds), multifunctional modular cabinets and shelves, and an installation room where all the technical equipment is concentrated. There is also an open terrace for stargazing.
